Procida, Italy

Every time I try to say ‘Procida’ I can’t help myself from referring to it as ‘Sweet little Procida.’ The tiny island––and I mean pretty dang small––is located just off the shore of Naples. If you take the fast ferry you can get there in about 30 minutes. But then again, why rush?

It was yet another time traveling that I meant to stay only one night and ending up three nights. While there, I borrowed an old, rickety bicycle and found my way around the whole island in a just couple of hours. My goal was to find a good hike, jump in the crisp, cool water, flop down on the sand and warm back up.. That can happen almost anywhere on the island. I found Spiaggia del Pozzo Vecchio (beach) where they shot scenes from the the movie Il Postino and dined underneath the stars in a groove of lemon trees at Ristorante La Pergola. Sweet Little Procida is dear to me and I can see myself taking someone special there someday.
